A great example about how structural inertia operates, is what we are living nowadays as country.
Chile is stepping foward to a great transformations, citizens are taking part on that, as never before. Nonetheless, government authorities and dozens of very well paid public managers and consultants, are just resisting to wich is not only a local rather a global demanding by concreted equiality, diversity and social justice.
Occuping the most important role in their whole professional carrers and also their lives, they have deciding to block until the most ridiculous details, rather than promote, contribute, facilitate and take part of the challenge.
In its first sesion to beggin to write the new contitution today, our 155 elected reprents did not found even the minimal conditions to work, such as Internet and enough spaces adapted according the pandemic restrictions.
The Ministery responsible for this huge task Secretaría General de la Presidencia- based on public data- has 203 consultants with an overage salary of USD 4.000 a month. Its own permanent staff send a public letter the last week claiming to check every investment and contract signed related with constitutiona budget because they consider they are not adjusted to the regular protocol and rules to public spending.
Conservative sector is dedicating al lot of energy, and I presume also resources, in descrediting every person which push the changes, 118 of whom now are autorithies with power and the democratly asignated task to rewrite our destiny- with gender parity and participation of first nations (indigenous people)-.
On the other hand, many of us perceive, participate and support with an enormous hope and proudly this historical process, which as least personally, I would never imagine it could be posible to living in this maner.
As we reflected with a cnadian friend a few days ago, around its particular moment as society as well as ours, we coincided that many of people like us -as well there as here- prefers transiting and confronting the whole pain wich means accept our true history and our non visible pains (until now); rather than to pretend that everything around us is good enough to keeping as usual.
What inertials are totally blind by option, is about many of us prefers to change rather to keep this sofocating status quo. Of course totally concient that is far to be the easy way to follow ahead.
