Un día podríamos salir a aplaudir al periodismo de investigación, les cierran todas las puertas, las ventanas, los amenazan, los insultan, no les dan pauta en los medios grandes, los hacen bolsa los fans de los pencas en las redes sociales…
Pero llegan igual…
Chile y el mundo serían otro sin la investigación periodística, y no serían mejores.
Chile:
A través de su cuenta de Twitter la periodista @alejandramatus señala: “Aguda diferencia de fallecimientos en Chile entre marzo 2019 y marzo 2020: 932 decesos, un 12% más”.
“Según datos oficiales que obtuve, es el mayor salto de la década, solo comparable con terremoto 2010. Según Minsal, en marzo solo se registraron 16 muertes por COVID 19”.
El mundo:
Este reportaje en The New York Times entrega al respecto un panorama global: “Mortality data in the middle of a pandemic is not perfect. In most places, the disparities between the official death counts and the total rise in deaths reflect limited testing for the virus rather than intentional undercounting. Officially, nearly 2 million people have died of the coronavirus worldwide as of Jan. 12.
But the total death numbers offer a more complete portrait of the pandemic, researchers say, especially because many countries report only those Covid-19 deaths that occur in hospitals”.
